We teach Modern Kintstugi classes in English where you can experience the art and essence of kintsugi through repairing your own piece to take home with you.
I also teach traditional kintsugi techniques in Japanese to mon cadeau members who work on their restorations over months allowing time for the layers of natural repairs to cure.
Modern Kintsugi Class
Discover the beauty of imperfection through the Japanese art of kintsugi. In this hands-on workshop, you’ll repair cracks and chips in ceramic using gold-colored paint and modern tools—transforming broken pieces into something even more beautiful.
The class begins with a bowl of matcha and seasonal Japanese sweets, creating a calm and authentic atmosphere.
All materials are provided, so just bring yourself.

Kintsugi & Tea Ceremony Class

Begin your experience with a table-style Japanese Tea Ceremony.
You’ll be introduced to the spirit of tea—an art of mindfulness, respect, and simplicity.
Watch a graceful demonstration of Bonryaku-demae, a simplified tea preparation, then try making a bowl of matcha yourself. You’ll also learn how to enjoy it with seasonal Japanese sweets, following traditional etiquette.
After this peaceful moment, move on to the Modern Kintsugi workshop, where you'll repair a ceramic item using gold-colored paint and modern tools. Take home a beautiful piece you’ve restored with your own hands.

Traditional kintsugi Class
Traditional kintsugi using real urushi lacquer is a delicate and intricate process. As it requires monthly sessions over several months—or even years—this course is available exclusively to members and limited to those currently residing in Japan.
